Austin Jones, the running back for USC, has announced his candidacy for the 2024 NFL Draft, one day after the Trojans defeated the Cardinals in the Holiday Bowl.
Using a number of his social media platforms, Jones declared for the draft. After the 2021 season, the 22-year-old transferred from Stanford to USC.
The two-year Trojan had a strong time while attending college. Jones ran for 2337 yards on 298 rushes and 24 rushing touchdowns throughout his five years in college. Jones was a Trojan in 2022–2023 who, for the most part, played an excellent backup position.
He gained 1182 yards and 12 rushing touchdowns in two years, averaging 5.4 yards per carry. He also recorded 370 receiving yards and two receiving touchdowns in 220 rushes against the ball.
Austin is only 22 years old, 5’10” tall, and 200 pounds in weight. There have been moments during his time as the Trojans’ star player when he could have been the star of many other national programs. After Travis Dye’s season-ending injury, Jones was crucial to last year’s success and continued to be reliable even after MarShawn Lloyd took the starting position this year.
We will support Austin all the way and wish him well in the professional ranks.
