To back Joe Flacco, Cleveland has signed veteran quarterback Jeff Driskel to the active roster. The 30-year-old was a member of the Arizona Cardinals’ practice squad this season before joining the Browns’ main roster. This season, Cleveland has suffered multiple significant injuries, including season-ending injuries to quarterbacks Deshaun Watson and Dorian Thompson-Robinson. This move was most likely taken in case the 38-year-old Flacco suffered an injury during the team’s postseason run.

Driskel has played for clubs such as the Cincinnati Bengals, Detroit Lions, Denver Broncos, and Houston Texans. He hasn’t been on an active roster since the Texans in 2022, when he had 108 passing yards and a touchdown in seven games. Since joining the league in 2018, the veteran has accumulated 2,228 passing yards, 14 touchdowns, and eight interceptions.

While Flacco has established himself as the primary quarterback in Cleveland, the organization appears to be playing things safe in case he suffers a terrible injury.
