Geelong vice-captain Tom Stewart has extended his contract at Kardinia Park by three years, with the Cats defender now under contract until the end of 2027.

With his contract about to expire next year, the five-time All-Australian has recommitted to Geelong before the start of 2024, extending his stay to 11 seasons.

Stewart joined the Cats as a mature-aged recruit from the club’s VFL program after a successful stint with local side South Barwon.

He would go on to win his first All-Australian selection in his second season with the Cats, as well as his first of two best and fairest awards in 2021.

The Geelong premiership defender expressed gratitude to the team and expressed excitement for the future.
“I am humbled and grateful to the Geelong Football Club for the opportunity to pull on the Hoops week in, week out,” Stewart said in a statement.

“Ever since I walked into the Club, everyone has been so supportive of me, and I can’t thank the playing group, coaching staff and wider organisation enough for all the time and effort they have not just put into my journey, but to everyone lucky enough to pull on the Hoops.”The Cats’ future is bright, and being able to embark on that journey with so many exciting young players and seasoned heads is something I am looking forward to, and we all can’t wait to crack into 2024 and continue to give our all for this footy club.”
