This appears to be an all-too-common theme for the Green Bay Packers this season: a number of prominent skill players are on the injured list as they prepare for a pivotal Week 17 clash against the Minnesota Vikings. It would be accurate to argue that the Packers have not assembled a fully healthy preferred roster for the whole season.
Christian Watson, a wide receiver, got injured in Week One, even though David Bakhtiari was fine. After Week One, injuries sidelined Aaron Jones for a while, Watson has been in and out, the defense has lost games due to injuries to both starting safeties and linebackers, and late in the season, Dontayvion Wicks and Jayden Reed switched places.
Rookie tight end Luke Musgrave is currently recovering off injured reserve with two games remaining in the season. The youthful wide receiver group for the Packers is currently without a number of important players. However, some young pass catchers have seized the chance to play more snaps and have done so to the best of their abilities despite the recent injuries.
Even though it’s fantastic that young guys are receiving chances, the Packers still need their best players to be on the field as playmakers. Thankfully, on Sunday night, they will be receiving one of their best back.
The Green Bay Packers’ Jayden Reed will play against the Minnesota Vikings on Sunday.
A chest/toe ailment kept rookie wide receiver Jayden Reed, selected in the second round, from playing in his first game of the season last week. Although he made a limited comeback to practice this week, he was not listed as a game-day injury on the team’s final injury report. This implies that he will undoubtedly play.
As of right now, Reed has caught 54 passes for 592 yards and six touchdowns this season. To tie Sterling Sharpe’s 1988 record for the most receptions by a rookie wide receiver, he just needs one more.
Reed has two more scores and 11 rushing attempts for 119 yards in addition to his receiving totals.
The Green Bay Packers Will Make a Decision About Dontayvion Wicks at Gametime.

Dontayvion Wicks, a fifth-round selection this season, has also emerged as a significant rookie wide receiver. He has two receptions for 29 yards and a touchdown last week against Carolina. On his touchdown catch, though, he was hurt in the chest and could not play again.
Wicks was officially designated by the Packers as questionable despite not practicing at all this week.
Wicks has 33 receptions for 520 yards and two touchdowns so far this season.
Christian Watson of the Green Bay Packers is listed as doubtful.
Green Bay Packers’ Christian Watson
On Sunday, December 3, 2023, at Lambeau Field in Green Bay, Wisconsin, during their football game, Green Bay Packers wide receiver Christian Watson (9) scores a touchdown against Kansas City Chiefs cornerback Trent McDuffie (22).
Christian Watson, a wide receiver, did not practice this week also as he heals from a hamstring injury he sustained against the Kansas City Chiefs. He will miss the game for the fourth straight time, thus the Packers may have put him on injured reserve. However, it appears that they had high hopes that he would heal more quickly than he has.
Watson has 28 receptions for 422 yards and five touchdowns so far this season.
