SAD NEWS: Louisville Head coach in tears as WR William Fowles in the transfer portal

Tuesday morning saw the loss of another wide receiver for the University of Louisville football team.

William Fowles, a rookie wide receiver who appeared in just one game for the Cardinals, has registered on the transfer site.

Although Fowles arrived on campus a year ago and participated in the Under Armour All-American game in January of last year, he was not included in the starting lineup of wide receivers during his rookie season. Back in September, Fowles participated in eight snaps during Murray State’s rout.
The 195-pound, 6-foot-2 Born and raised in Hialeah, Florida, Fowles participated in Hollywood Avant Garde’s senior season. During his final two high school seasons, he totaled more than 1,500 yards. In the Under Armour All-American game, he had no catches.

Fowles played his final season at Avante Garde after attending for three years. Fowles caught 47 receptions at Dade Christian as a junior, gaining 1,100 yards and 19 touchdowns. During a game against Opa Lock Monsignor, he recorded a career-high seven receptions for 204 yards.

Before his senior season, in early August, Fowles made a commitment to U of L. Prior to making his pledge, he revealed his top six, which were Miami, Ole Miss, Florida State, Georgia, Maryland, and Texas A&M. He has been linked to several colleges. However, it seemed that Florida State and Miami were the schools most interested in signing him. According to the 247Sports Composite rankings, he was the No. 74 wide receiver prospect and the No. 526 overall prospect in the class of 2023.

Fowles is the sixteenth player on a scholarship for Louisville to visit the portal. He comes in after Ahmari Huggins-Bruce and Kevin Coleman as the third wide receiver.
