Campbell, DanThe Hurricanes’ starting quarterback from the Pinstripe Bowl will return for the 2024 season.
With the deadline to enter the Transfer Portal nearing on Tuesday at midnight, David Lake of Inside The U claimed that Jacurri Brown will remain with the Hurricanes.
“Brown is embracing the competition for playing time in 2024 with the understanding that if he continues to develop he has a chance to compete for the starting job in 2025,” Lake said in a statement.
According to Lake’s breakdown, Brown understands that Miami is still looking to add a one-year starter from the transfer portal for the 2024 season. The Hurricanes were attempting to sign Washington State transfer Cam Ward, but he chose to join the NFL Draft on New Year’s Day.
Next season, Brown will be a redshirt sophomore.
Brown completed 21 of 30 attempts (64.5%) for 181 yards with a score and an interception in Miami’s 31-24 loss to Rutgers in the Pinstripe Bowl. He also had 57 yards rushing and two touchdowns.
Miami’s only two returning quarterbacks for the 2024 season are Brown and Emory Williams. This month, the Hurricanes will add true freshman Judd Anderson as an early enrollee.
