The Auburn men’s basketball team made its debut in the AP Poll rankings for the 2023–24 campaign on the first day of 2024. The poll, which was made public on Monday afternoon, had the Tigers at number twenty-five. This was the ninth poll of the season, and all but one of the prior polls had Auburn earning votes.
The Tigers are now ranked after being among the first two teams to miss the rankings for two weeks in a row. The Tigers were the first club to be left off of the Dec. 26 poll rankings, having gotten the 27th-most votes in the rankings that were made public on Dec. 18.
The Tigers are listed alongside No. 5 Tennessee, No. 6 Kentucky, and No. 22 Ole Miss as one of four SEC teams.
The Tigers have been rated at least once in six of the last seven seasons—a run that started with the 2017–18 campaign—after Auburn was added to the rankings. Auburn had not been included in the poll since 2003 before that.
The No. 25 Tigers will play their final nonconference game against Penn on Tuesday, January 2, before making the trip to Bud Walton Arena for the SEC opener against Arkansas on Saturday, January 6.
