According to Hayes Fawcett of On3 Sports, UCLA football received some good news on Wednesday when Collins Acheampong, a former Miami EDGE, committed to the Bruins:
Breaking: Collins Acheampong, a former Miami Edge, has committed to UCLA, he tells @on3sports. There will be four more years of eligibility left for the 6’8 270 EDGE, who was listed by On3 as one of the Top 100 Recruits in ’23.
The 2023 On3 Industry Ranking, a weighted average that takes into account all four of the major recruiting media businesses, has Acheampong at position 154 among players. In the state of California, he ranks as the No. 12 player and the No. 19 edge.

After UCLA football lost DC D’Anton Lynn to the rival USC Trojans, Acheampong will be playing under a new defensive coordinator. Ikaika Malloe was named by the Bruins to fill the position going forward.
Malloe has been a member of the UCLA coaching staff for the past two seasons and has twenty years of coaching experience. Before moving on to the defensive line the next season, he served as an assistant coach for the Bruins’ outside linebackers in 2021.
On December 16, when UCLA football defeated Boise State in the L.A. Bowl, Malloe oversaw the team’s defensive strategy.
