With many of Auburn’s talented defensive backs opting out of the Music City Bowl, the coaching staff was forced to rely on a group of rookie players, one of them was Kayin Lee.
Lee played 42 snaps against the Maryland Terrapins, recording a tackle for loss and a pass deflection. Lee had a PFF rating of 67.4, ranking tenth on the defense.
Lee played 336 snaps as a true freshman and shown why he will be outstanding in an Auburn outfit.
Hank Brown, Auburn’s rookie quarterback, visited the Locked On Auburn Podcast to talk about the bowl game.
When host Zac Blackerby asked Brown about Kayin Lee, the Auburn quarterback said, “Kayin Lee is going to be one of the best DBs that Auburn has ever had, in my opinion.” He is a total stud.
He has a tremendous potential. His potential is enormous, and I can’t wait to see how well he performs next season. But, like you say, he’s quite outstanding, and it’ll be exciting to see him start and play the entire season next year. So I’m looking forward to seeing what he can do. He’s a one-of-a-kind player.”
Auburn will lose some outstanding corners and safeties, but it’s evident that there is still a lot of skill on this team, and Lee is one of them.
Lee will be a shutdown corner in the SEC sooner rather than later.
