Just days after the Longhorns’ Sugar Bowl loss to Washington, two players have declared for the NFL Draft.
Byron Murphy II, a defensive tackle, announced his departure for the draft via social media.
Murphy is a Desoto, Texas, junior. This season, he had five sacks and 29 total tackles, including three versus Washington.
Along with Murphy, running back Jonathon Brooks is set to declare for the draft.
Brooks rushed for 1,139 yards and scored 10 times this season. In addition, he recorded 25 receptions for 286 yards and a touchdown in 10 games before suffering a season-ending torn ACL.
Brooks is expected to be ready for training camp, according to ESPN’s Pete Thamel.
Prior to his injury, several draft scouts allegedly rated Brooks as the top running back prospect.
