Louisville Cardinals Preview: Roster, Prospects, Schedule, and More

Meeks is Louisville’s fifth commitment to a transfer this day and their sixth commitment in the last two days. The following players committed earlier in the day: Texas A&M linebacker Jurriente Davis, Oklahoma safety Daeh McCullough, Houston offensive tackle Reuben Unije, Georgia Southern offensive tackle Rasheed Miller, and Toledo running back Peny Boone. For the past two seasons, one of the top wide receivers in the Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Conference has been 6-foot-2, 190-pound Meeks. As a true freshman in 2022, he participated in all 11 games and had an immediate impact, leading the Golden Tigers in all categories with 31 receptions for 692 yards and six touchdowns. The product of Lilburn, Georgia, had an even stronger 2023 season despite being forced to play in just eight games this season due to injuries. Again leading Tuskegee in all three categories, he hauled in 43 receptions for 745 yards and five touchdowns, earning Second-Team All-SIAC recognition in the process.

Meeks’ decision to commit to the Cardinals is just the most recent domino to fall in the wide receiver room’s roster movement. Louisville is losing Ahmari Huggins-Bruce and Kevin Coleman Jr. to the NFL Draft as well as Jamari Thrash to the draft, but they are also adding Alabama’s Ja’Corey Brooks and South Alabama’s Caullin Lacy as a formidable duo. With Chris Bell as a returner and gifted true freshman Joseph Stone Jr. and Shaun Boykins Jr., the Cardinals’ passing game appears to advance significantly in 2024. In this cycle, Louisville has committed 22 transfers and had 18 scholarship players sign with them via the winter transfer window. The Cardinals concluded their first season under head coach Jeff Brohm with a three-game losing streak, but they completed 2023 with an overall record of 10-4 (7-1 in ACC), including a trip to the program’s first-ever ACC Championship Game.
