LOUISVILLE, Ky. (AP) — The University of Louisville football program is continuing to fortify its offensive line via the transfer portal. Rasheed Miller, an offensive tackle who played his first four years at Georgia Southern, revealed on Saturday that he has committed to play his last season of eligibility with the Cardinals. Miller becomes Louisville’s third transfer pledge of the day, joining former Houston offensive tackle Reuben Unije and former Oklahoma safety Daeh McCullough. Former Toledo running back Peny Boone committed to the Cardinals on Friday, giving them four portal picks in the previous two days.
This season, the enormous 6-foot-7, 310-pound lineman started all 13 games for Georgia Southern, splitting time between left and right tackle, and was one of the Sun Belt’s top offensive linemen. Miller allowed only four sacks, five quarterback hits, and 22 hurries in 527 pass block snaps and 796 total blocking snaps, earning him Second-Team All-Sun Belt honors. The Lake Wales, Florida native redshirted his first season with the Eagles in 2021 before playing 14 total snaps (three on offense, 11 on special teams) in three games the following year. Miller’s role expanded for his redshirt sophomore season in 2022, when he appeared in nine games with one start and allowed only one pressure in 55 blocking snaps. When it comes to recruiting offensive linemen from the portal, Louisville has been decisive. Miller is the Cardinals’ sixth commitment, joining Yale tackle Jonathan Mendoza, NIU center Pete Nygra, Ohio State tackle Victor Cutler, Texas Tech tackle Monroe Mills, and Houston tackle Reuben Unije.
These enhancements help to compensate for some significant losses on the line. Louisville is set to lose seven offensive lineman from the current roster due to graduation and the transfer portal, including three starters. The Cardinals have now received 20 transfer commitments, while also having 18 of their own scholarship players join the portal during the winter transfer window. The Cardinals finished the 2023 season with an overall record of 10-4 (7-1 in the ACC), including a berth in the program’s first-ever ACC Championship Game, but ended the year on a three-game losing streak under head coach Jeff Brohm.
