ESPN NEWS FLASH: Brown set to lose key figure after granting him permission to interview with Commanders for top personnel post

The Browns’ incredible success this season (11-6 and a playoff spot despite several injuries) means they will certainly lose some of their top players.

On Monday, they gave the Commanders permission to interview deputy general manager and vice president of player personnel Glenn Cook for the position of head of football operations. The Commanders fired head coach Ron Rivera on Monday and are rebuilding the team.
Cook interviewed for the Titans’ general manager position last season, as well as positions with the Vikings and Bears in 2022. Former Browns Vice President of Football Operations Kwesi Adofo-Mensah was hired by the Vikings.

The Browns also anticipate that assistant general manager and Vice President of Football Operations Catherine Raiche, who has been in football administration since 2015, will be approached for GM interviews this cycle.

During the league conference Dec. 11-13, both attended the NFL’s Front Office & General Manager Accelerator Program.

“It’s always an honor to be recognized as someone who could potentially lead a team in this league,” Cook said at the time, according to the Browns website. “As a result, I’m always grateful for this opportunity.” Second, I never pass up an opportunity to learn and improve when working in the league office and being a part of other organizations. So I’m really thrilled to do that and see if I can continue to develop my craft and grow across all of the many aspects that are crucial for leading an organization.”

Browns exec Glenn Cook will interview for Titans' GM job

If the Browns lose Cook or Raiche, they will receive a compensatory draft pick, similar to what they received for Adofo-Mensah, with the No. 98 choice in the third round of the 2023 draft. It was applied to defensive tackle Siaki Ika, who played in four games this season.
