Another quarterback has officially become available for the Miami Hurricanes.
It’s unclear whether the NCAA has formally granted Tagovailoa an additional year of eligibility or whether the decision is still pending. He just submitted a waiver. In any case, joining the gateway is a major step ahead for him to potentially play another season.
He was a four-year starter for the Maryland Terrapins. In 2023, his 3,377 throwing yards topped the Big 10 league. Last season, he threw 25 touchdowns and 11 interceptions. With 11,256 passing yards and 76 touchdowns, he is the all-time Maryland passing yardage leader.
In recent weeks, it has been claimed that Taulia would like to play for the Miami Hurricanes in order to be closer to his older brother, Tua. Tagovailoa’s father is in his fourth season with the Miami Dolphins.
Tagovailoa may bring vital experience to the Hurricanes’ quarterback room, which is otherwise young. Miami’s most experienced signal caller is Jacurri Brown, who is entering his third season.
Taulia, like the majority of Miami’s quarterback targets, is a graduate transfer. The Hurricanes would want to continue developing their young quarterbacks while an upperclassman oversees the offense in 2024.
