On Sunday night, the Toronto Raptors traveled to the Chase Center to play the Golden State Warriors. After winning a championship with the Warriors in 2022, Raptors forward Otto Porter Jr. made his first trip back to the Bay for the encounter this past weekend. In a heartfelt moment at center court, Golden State gave the 30-year-old a much-delayed title ring prior to their match on Sunday.
Nearly two years after the team’s 2022 NBA Finals victory against the Boston Celtics, Stephen Curry greeted Porter in the center of the arena and revealed the championship ring. Despite the long wait, Porter appeared unfazed by it, wearing a broad smile throughout the presentation.
Porter has been in Toronto for the last two seasons after departing the Warriors following the ’22 season. Last season, he played in just eight games and wasn’t available when the Raptors traveled to the Bay. Even though it took a little longer, the Warriors chose to keep the ring on hand until Porter returned to the Chase Center rather than mail it to him. During Golden State’s championship run in 2022, Porter averaged 19.5 minutes per game and contributed 5.4 points, 3.4 rebounds, and 1.8 assists per game.
