Derrick Henry’s future with the Tennessee Titans had been in doubt in recent weeks, but after Sunday’s victory over the Jacksonville Jaguars, it became evident that this was likely his final season with the organization.
The Titans were able to derail the Jaguars’ postseason aspirations with a 28-20 victory in front of their home crowd, and after the celebration, Henry grabbed a microphone and thanked the supporters.
“Titans fans, I just want to say thank you for the greatest eight years of my life,” he added. “Y’all have been there for everything, the ups and downs.” Through difficulties, you’ve always supported me as a person and a player. I adore you all. I enjoy seeing the 22s in the stadium. I hope I was an influence to all of the young kids and everyone in the community. Thank you very much.”
After being drafted in the second round of the 2016 NFL Draft, Henry has established himself as one of the greatest players in Titans history, leading the NFL in running yards and touchdowns in 2019 and 202, respectively, while also winning the AP Offensive Player of the Year award in 2020.
Henry is set to become a free agent this summer and will most likely try to join a championship contender for the remainder of his career.
