Tamarion McDonald, a veteran Tennessee safety, entered the transfer portal on December 13 and announced his commitment to Ole Miss a few days later.
McDonald has changed his mind after visiting Louisville this week. McDonald, a native of Memphis, Tenn., revealed his commitment to the Cardinals on social media on Monday, following his visit to campus on Thursday.
McDonald, 6-foot-2, 195 pounds, was a contributor during his four-year Tennessee career, appearing in 42 games and starting 23 of them as a nickel cornerback the previous two seasons. McDonald will be a fifth-year college football player.
McDonald has 116 tackles, 75 solo stops, 8.5 tackles for loss, one sack, four interceptions, 16 passes defended, and one fumble recovery in four seasons at Tennessee. During his junior season in 2022, he recorded a career-high 56 tackles and two interceptions while starting all 13 games.
McDonald missed two games due to injuries during the 2023 season. Despite this, he had 40 tackles, 3.5 tackles for loss, one interception, and five passes deflected for the Volunteers.
McDonald, a linebacker out of high school, is ranked as the No. 239 overall transfer prospect by 247Sports. In the portal, he is ranked as the No. 20 safety. He was a standout at Memphis’ Whitehaven High School. 247Sports ranked McDonald as the No. 596 player in the Class of 2020 and the No. 15 prospect in Tennessee.
