JUST IN: Houston Texans quarterback gave major props to Indianapolis Colts fans on Monday

C.J. Stroud, the quarterback for the Houston Texans, gave Indianapolis Colts supporters a lot of credit on Monday. During his NFL debut, the former Ohio State standout claimed that Lucas Oil Stadium was the loudest place he had ever played. On Saturday night, Stroud led the Texans to a 23-19 victory over the Colts. The team’s first postseason appearance since 2019 was guaranteed by that victory. The Tennessee Titans’ victory over the Jacksonville Jaguars the following day gave Houston the AFC South championship.

On Monday, Stroud appeared on the Pat McAfee Show and acknowledged Colts supporters. It made a lot of noise. That atmosphere was fantastic,” stated Stroud. “I think the stadium I played in while I was in Indianapolis was the loudest one in the NFL.” It feels a lot like a college campus.” Stroud would also be well-versed in boisterous college environments. He performed at several storied Big Ten locations, including Michigan Stadium, Beaver Stadium (Penn State), and Memorial Stadium (Nebraska), in addition to calling “The Horseshoe” home while attending Ohio State.

Maybe Stroud was ready for the atmosphere at Lucas Oil Stadium after attending those events. Because the quarterback did not get spooked on Saturday. Twenty-of-26 passes were completed by the rookie quarterback for 264 yards and two scores. However, the drive that won the game was his best effort. With 6:20 remaining, Stroud engineered a 12-play, 73-yard touchdown drive to break a tie and give the Texans a 23-17 lead. The former Buckeye completed all seven of his throws for 82 yards on that drive. Even with the excellent attendance on Saturday in Indianapolis, Houston prevailed. Still, I thought Stroud’s gesture of giving credit to Colts fans was fairly great. With just five interceptions in his 4,108 yards of passing and 23 touchdowns, Stroud has had an incredible debut campaign. He guided the Texans to a division title and a 10-7 record. The rookie experiences the NFL playoffs for the first time the following week. The Cleveland Browns visit Houston on Saturday at 4:30 p.m. ET. NBC televises the game.
