JUST IN: Raiders best WR still under contract for three years, Davante Adams

When Davante Adams first arrived with the Las Vegas Raiders, there were questions about whether his success in Green Bay would translate to Sin City. The Raiders, on the other hand, were confident in Adams, who was largely considered the best wide receiver in the game at the time. The great wideout was signed to a five-year, $140-million contract with an average annual pay of $28 million by Las Vegas. It is still the richest contract on the team for anyone on the roster.

The contract made Adams the highest-paid wide receiver in the NFL at the time. Although his contract is still the largest of any wide receiver, Miami Dolphins wideout Tyreek Hill leads in average annual compensation with $30 million. Last March, he agreed to a four-year, $120 million contract with Miami. Adams lived up to his contract in his first season with the Raiders, finishing with 1,516 receiving yards and a league-leading 14 receiving touchdowns. He’d be selected for his sixth consecutive Pro Bowl and third consecutive All-Pro First Team. This season, however, Adams has taken a step back. While the veteran received 1,000 yards and 100 catches for the fourth consecutive season, he only averaged 67.3 yards per game and had three 100-yard receiving outings. As of today, Adams will not play in this year’s Pro Bowl.

Adams will be a free agent in 2027, but his divorce from the Green Bay Packers demonstrated that a trade is always a possibility if the player is unhappy with the team.

Following the Raiders’ victory over the Denver Broncos on Sunday, Adams was upbeat about the team’s future. “It’s the best morale of a team that I’ve been on where we’ve been eliminated from the playoffs, for sure,” Adams said after the game. “You’re never happy when the season ends at any point unless, typically, only one team is happy in the end, but just based on where this team is right now and the feeling about where we’re headed, it’s definitely a better feeling.” The NFL Scouting Combine will take place at Lucas Oil Stadium in Indianapolis, Indiana, from February 27 to March 4, 2024.
