Dennis Schroder, who has joined the Toronto Raptors to replace the departing Fred VanVleet, feels at home there, but he is constantly reminded of the contract he chose not to sign with the Los Angeles Lakers.
Schroder discussed what transpired with the Lakers offer, as reported by Yahoo Sports’ Jake Fischer:
A move is frequently the result of an unresolved or declining partnership between a player and the team. Once all, we’re only two years—”those two years,” as Schröder remembers them—away from the time his previous agent encouraged him to ignore a four-season, $84 million offer from the Lakers that would become notorious once he was transferred from Oklahoma City.
Additionally, Schröder told Yahoo Sports, “I would have signed it.” “I would never simply walk away from money.” I wasn’t raised that way by my mother. Even still, there was still schadenfreude for every turnover he made, with people making fun of his mishandled bag in post after post.
Alex Saratsis of Octagon was Schroder’s agent at the time; he has since moved to Priority Sports’ Mark Bartlestein.
