Reuben Unije, a Houston transfer, has committed to Louisville. The 6-foot-5, 310-pound offensive tackle visited on Friday and made his selection on Saturday. He is the Cardinals’ 18th transfer commitment.
This season, Unije started 11 games at right tackle for Houston. On December 4, he logged into the site and reported scholarship offers from Colorado, USC, and Virginia Tech. Unije traveled to South Carolina before heading to Louisville.
Unije, an IMG Academy product, was a member of Illinois’ 2018 recruiting class before transferring to Coahoma (Miss.) Junior College for the 2019 season. He joined the Houston roster in 2020 and started the final six games of the season as the starting left tackle. Injuries limited him to one game in 2021 and seven games with two starts in 2022.
Unije, a native of Atlanta, is the fifth offensive lineman to announce his transfer to Louisville since the season ended. He joins Northern Illinois’ Pete Nygra, Texas Tech’s Monroe Mills, Ohio State’s Vic Cutler, and Yale transfer Jonathan Mendoza.
Unije is also the third Houston offensive lineman to transfer to Louisville in the last two seasons. Trevonte Slyvester and Lance Robinson both left the Cougars before the 2023 season.
