BREAKING NEWS: Miami Hurricanes Young Quarterbacks Emerge As QB1 In The 2023 /2024 Season

Miami’s young quarterbacks emerge as QB1 in the 2023/2024 season

It’s possible that the Miami Hurricanes will add more quarterbacks via the Transfer Portal. Miami would probably take advantage if seasoned Maryland signal caller Taulia Tagovailoa is given a another year of eligibility by the NCAA.

Fall camp and spring football might be open competition for Miami if he doesn’t become available. The candidates are redshirt sophomore Jacurri Brown, freshman Judd Anderson, sophomore Emory Williams, and junior transfer Reese Poffenbarger.

Which one would offer Miami the best opportunity on August 31st to defeat the Florida Gators?

I questioned Hurricanes supporters on X about who they thought would start:
With 773 votes, Brown receives 51% of the vote, followed by Poffenbarger (30%), Williams (16%), and Anderson 2%.
In the Pinstripe Bowl, Brown made his Miami debut and improved his accuracy. He runs really well and has a powerful arm. At 6-4 and 220 pounds, he is a nice size. As a true freshman in 2022, Brown started two games and excelled especially well away from home against Georgia Tech. His teammates hold him in high regard. He is an effective leader. In an open race, my preference would be for Brown, but I could also make a compelling argument for Williams.

Williams faced the two toughest defenses Miami faced on the schedule last season—Florida State and Clemson—while making two starts. Before getting hurt, Brown got the opportunity to lead a key drive against FSU as Miami defeated Clemson. He made several rookie errors, but he also had great poise and made some huge throws. Against the Seminoles, he broke his non-throwing arm, but he should be healthy for spring football. Brown may have chosen to redshirt last year, which is why Williams overtook him on the depth chart. Although Williams lacks Brown’s agility, he has demonstrated more consistent accuracy in practice.

Poffenbarger serves as the prop. He travels from FCS U Albany to Miami. His performance in the spring competition will give us a good idea of where he stands with the Canes. Reese has played for the Great Danes for two complete seasons, making him the most experienced member of the club. Will the Power Five be able to effectively utilize his aggressive downfield approach? He can stretch plays and is a competent runner as well.

As a true freshman, Anderson is unlikely to have much of an impact, but his potential is great. He’s athletic and 6-7. At Warner Robins High School in Georgia, he had a strong final year. In 2024, he most likely will redshirt.
