BREAKING NEWS: Phillies’ Head Coach Rob Thomson Declared Phillies hot Prospect Will Become Starting Third Baseman

The Philadelphia Phillies have a ready-made squad for years to come after signing hefty contracts with some of the game’s best stars. They’re hoping to win their first World Series victory since 2008 with this bunch before the front office has to start replacing players. When that time comes, one talent evaluator believes the Phillies will be set at third base for the foreseeable future, with one of their top prospects ready to take over.

Dream Phillies starting rotation for the 2024 season

When Jim Callis of MLB Pipeline proclaimed  the biggest steal of the 2023 MLB Draft’s first round, he made no secret of his admiration for him. Callis went on to say that the promising 19-year-old would be Philadelphia’s starting third baseman within the next couple of years. ”

He’ll continue to climb in the rankings until he takes over the hot corner in Philadelphia in mid-2026, when he’ll be 22,” he says. That is an impressive statement.
Callis is referring to MLB Pipeline’s Top-100 list, in which Miller is now ranked 90th overall. Callis also hinted that Miller will make a significant jump in their new rankings, which will be released later in January. After graduating from high school, Philadelphia’s top prospect appeared in only 20 games during his debut professional season this past season. Ten of those were spent in Rookie ball, where he hit.414/.528/.483 with no home runs and two RBI. He struggled a little after being promoted to Single-A, slashing.216/.341/.297 with two extra-base hits and no home runs or RBI.

Despite the small sample size, Callis is extremely optimistic about Miller’s future, predicting that he will hit for power and average after being the best hitter in high school before entering the draft. The Phillies’ current third baseman, Alec Bohm, is arbitration eligible until after the 2026 season, so it will be interesting to see how the rising prospect affects his position on the organization. Bohm’s defense has been a source of criticism throughout his career, but his bat has more than compensated for those shortcomings.

If Miller is ready to take over as starter in 2026, some difficult decisions may be required. But it’s exciting to know that they may already have their future starter third baseman in the pipeline.
