ESPN NEWS: According to NFL Falcons request to interview trio of head coach candidates

After playing for seven years, Weaver went on to teach in the NFL for more than ten years, working under John Harbaugh, Mike Vrabel, Romeo Crennel, Rex Ryan, and J.J. Watt in Houston.

Like current Lions head coach Dan Campbell, he is well-known throughout the league for his likeability, work ethic, and decisiveness. Weaver started his NFL coaching career as a defensive line coach with the Bills, Browns, and Texans. He was later promoted to defensive coordinator in Houston to take Crennel’s job.

Since then, he has relocated to Baltimore, where he is a key member of the defensive unit that leads the NFL in sacks and gives up the fewest running touchdowns to opponents. Weaver has experience in defense, particularly in the trenches.

Fans of the Falcons may be familiar with Glenn from his time with the Saints. Glenn has spent 30 years in the NFL and was a more prominent player. He was chosen 12th overall in the 1994 NFL draft and then played for the Jets, Texans, Cowboys, Jaguars, and Falcons.

2014 saw Glenn begin his career as a Jets personnel scout. He then worked as the Browns’ assistant defensive backs coach for the next two seasons before rejoining the New Orleans Saints under Sean Payton, when he was named defensive backs coach. Glenn followed Dan Campbell to the Lions, where he took a job as defensive coordinator.

Glenn and Terry Fontenot spent a lot of time together in New Orleans, so Terry knows Glenn.

One of the most sought-after names in the offseason will be Ben Johnson. He has played a key role in rejuvenating the Lions, especially the offense. The Falcons, who have a similar group of skill players in Drake London, Bijan Robinson, Tyler Allgeier, and Kyle Pitts, are interested in him because of his work with Amon-Ra St. Brown, Jahmyr Gibbs, David Montgomery, and Sam La Porta.

According to reports, Johnson has a large salary request for the team that signs him, but Arthur Blank has never hesitated to part with cash to win football games. There will be fierce competition for Johnson’s services because, as I mentioned before, he is one of the most well-known brands available.

The Falcons plan to widen their hiring pool, so these are just the initial inquiries.
