The Chicago Bears are facing a major quarterback dilemma this summer, and general manager Ryan Poles made it obvious which way the team is leaning on Wednesday.
The Bears must choose between keeping previous first-round pick Justin Fields and utilizing the No. 1 choice on one of the draft’s top quarterbacks. Poles stated on Wednesday that the Bears feel Fields is capable of leading the club, but that because to their “unique situation,” everything is on the table and the organization is in the process of “information gathering.”
This suggests that the Bears aren’t confident enough in Fields to overlook the availability of someone like Caleb Williams. If they were dealing with a worse quarterback class, they might remain with Fields, but with Williams or Drake Maye on the table, they are willing to take a risk and go for an upgrade.

Fields threw for 2,562 yards, ran for 657 yards, and scored 20 touchdowns in 13 games this season. His Bears colleagues back him up, but there are still concerns about his consistency. There are obviously reasons for Chicago to keep him, but if they perceive Williams as a generational talent who can be developed into a superior quarterback, the decision appears to be clear.
