The Cleveland Browns’ fifth starting quarterback of the year is none other than Jeff Driskel.
After being cut from the Arizona Cardinals practice squad, there was speculation that this was just a trial opportunity.
P.J. Walker is still active and has already participated in a number of crucial Browns games.
All week, there was some modest conjecture as to which of the two backup quarterbacks would start as quarterback.
Alex Van Pelt, the offensive coordinator, provided the information today via Andrew Siciliano of the NFL Network.
Fans who believe Walker is the superior option were taken aback by the decision.
Against the Cincinnati Bengals, Driskel had a rough start as he intercepted the ball on his third snap.
On his final drive before the half, the only one to take more than four plays, he scrambled for two first downs.
Driskel kept some drives alive by using his legs as well.
The career stats of Cleveland’s fifth quarterback are marginally superior to those of Walker.
The most significant fact, however, is that Walker has a 5-4 career win-loss record compared to Driskel’s 1-10 record.
Since his debut season in 2018, Driskel has really failed to earn an NFL start.
