GOOD NEWS: Louisville Defeats Pitt 74-44

Midway through the quarter, Pitt scored their first points, but Louisville had already taken a 14-0 advantage. With two minutes remaining in the half, the Cards’ lead was decreased to two as Pitt, however, turned the tide and reduced the deficit. Before the third-quarter TV stoppage, Louisville led 6–0, but in the last quarter, they took on a little run to lead 10–0. After Pitt committed a few fouls, it was all Louisville from there. In the last quarter, the Cards outscored the Panthers 26–6.

With 13 points, Sydney Taylor topped all scorers. She also contributed 4 rebounds and 4 assists. With six rebounds and eight points, Nyla Harris With six of her ten points coming in the fourth quarter, Kiki Jefferson contributed to the run that put the game out of reach.
“It’s a game where, if you didn’t watch the game, you’re going to look at the score and go, ‘Man, they beat them by 30.'” remarked Coach Walz. This was no 30-point contest. We executed brilliantly when we went against their zone. We knocked them down after getting every attractive shot we wanted. They then went to man, and we handled the basketball carelessly. But he “thought we played really well on defense the entire time.” We were keeping them from getting going even during our offensive lulls because we really did a great job of making things difficult for them. That is what needs to be done.

There were 13 mistakes and 20 assists for the Cards. “I told them we shot 52% from the field,” stated Coach Walz. Good things happen when we move the ball, play aggressively, and give each other shots.
“Jayda Curry had 2 of 5 [9 points], 3 assists, 0 turnovers, and came up with 2 steals. That’s the type of effort we’ve got to continue to get from her because she can bring that for us,” the coach said, praising Jayda Curry’s performance.

The Cards’ next game is at the Yum Center against Wake Forest. The ACC Network will broadcast the game, which starts at 2:00 p.m. There will be a celebration of the program’s 1000th victory, and it has been suggested that many notable visitors will be present.
