HUGE REACTIONS: NCAA world strange reactions as Florida bounces back against Georgia for first SEC win of the season

GAINESVILLE, FLORIDA (WCJB) – The University of Florida Women’s Basketball team won their first SEC game of the season. In the O’Dome, the Gators defeated the Bulldogs 78-69.

UF dominated from the start, jumping out to a 12-point lead in the first quarter. Florida scored 19 more points in the second quarter and shot 50 percent from the floor to extend their lead. The Gators maintained their lead after halftime, scoring 23 points in the third quarter and 17 points in the fourth.

The fourth quarter was the Bulldogs’ best. Georgia closed the difference with 26 points in the final 10 minutes of play. Florida replied by winning the game by a nine-point margin.

With the ball, the UF squad was dynamic and deliberate. Leilani Correa led the offence, scoring a career-high against the Bulldogs. She had a game-high 30 points. Aliyah Matharu also reached double figures for the Gators, scoring 21 points. Laila Renyolds, a freshman, played well. In the contest, she collected a team-high seven rebounds.

The Gators will return to the Stephen C. O’Connell Centre on January 22 to face the Mississippi State Bulldogs. The game will be televised live on SEC Network at 7 p.m.
