After Joe Flacco took over as the team’s quarterback, the Cleveland Browns managed to make the playoffs and have one of the best records in the league despite the injury to starting quarterback Deshaun Watson midway through the NFL season. Even though Flacco has done a great job guiding the team, it appears that Watson will be prepared to take over in the spring.
Deshaun Watson will continue to start for the Cleveland Browns as their starting quarterback in the upcoming season, according to head coach Kevin Stefanski. Watson stated that he is “chomping at the bit” to play again after suffering a season-ending injury to his right shoulder and that he will be “ready to roll” by the spring.
According to Stefanski, “Yeah, he’s doing great in rehab” (Pro Football Talk). “I have no doubt that he’ll be prepared to go this spring. Though he’s chewing at the bit, he’s following the doctors’ instructions and recovering through this in the best way possible. He will, however, be prepared to go.
Even though Flacco helped the team go 4-1 and make the playoffs, Watson is entering the third season of an incredibly large, fully guaranteed contract, thus it makes sense that he will once again start at quarterback for the team.
