In the same week that the Miami Hurricanes select the Canes as their top Transfer Portal quarterback target, they are pursuing a quarterback class of 2026.
Brady Smigiel has now received an offer from Miami in addition to ones from Oregon, Georgia, Florida State, Notre Dame, and Michigan. The 205-pound, 6-foot-5 passer is already starting to get national recognition. His alma mater is Newbury Park High School in California.
Signing quarterbacks from Golden State is not new for Miami. Gino Torretta goes to high school at Pinole Valley High School in California, whereas Ken Dorsey attends prep school in Orinda Miramonte in California.
In the 2023 season, Smigiel completed 282 of 479 passes for 4,222 yards, 52 touchdowns, and 14 interceptions, with a completion percentage of 58.9%, according to Max Preps.
He’s a traditional pocket quarterback that tosses the ball downfield with aggression. In addition, he possesses the arm skill and accuracy to rank among the top prospects in the country for 2026 recruiting.
