To put their 2023 NFL season behind them is the one thing the New York Giants really want. One major reason for this is the quiet exit of Wink Martindale from his position as defensive coordinator for the Giants.

Although the Giants’ defence was one of their strong points, the team as a whole was unable to establish a winning culture at the level they had set for themselves before the season. As a result of tensions between Martindale and Giants head coach Brian Daboll, the front office was left in charge of filling Martindale’s shoes.

In their quest to find a replacement for Wink Martindale, who will the Giants entertain?
Enter Derrick Ansley of the Los Angeles Chargers, a defensive end who was reportedly considered a potential replacement by the Giants, according to Adam Schefter, a senior NFL insider for ESPN.

On February 20, 2023, Ansley took over as the Chargers’ defensive coordinator. Despite being one of just eight teams without double-digit interceptions (9) on the season and giving up the second-most passing yards of any defence (4,580), Ansley did assist the front seven in holding rushers to a 23.6 percent rush first down percentage.

Anthony Campanile, the Miami Dolphins’ linebacker coach, is another player the Giants have an eye on, according to Tom Pelissero’s tweet:
