The Cleveland Browns want to conclude interviews as soon as possible in order to make adjustments to their staff from the previous season. OC Alex Van Pelt, RB coach Stump Mitchell, and TE coach T.C. McCartney have reportedly already left the team.
Reports soon surfaced stating that former NFL star running back Duce Staley was in town for a job interview. Then came the intriguing announcement that a defensive coach will be interviewing for a staff post that was already occupied.
An thought about who would replace Staley as the team’s offensive coordinator was what was missing. It remains to be seen if that someone will take over for AVP or assume complete command of the offence in lieu of HC Kevin Stefanski.
The Seattle Seahawks offensive line coach Andy Dickerson, who coached in Cleveland during Eric Mangini’s tenure with the organization, is the first candidate to be interviewed for the job. Dickerson spent nine seasons with the Los Angeles Rams before to his final two seasons with the Seahawks.
It’s possible that Brian Callahan, the son of Bill Callahan, will interview for head coaching jobs and that the offensive line coach for the Browns will accompany him. Speak with Dickerson as a fallback in case Callahan decides to leave Cleveland.
As soon as any fresh information about the Browns coaching search is available, we’ll keep you informed.
