The instant Bill Belichick became available, the Atlanta Falcons coaching hunt was under way. There could not be much longer until a new Falcons head coach is announced, as team owner Arthur Blank is now conducting follow-up interviews.
Arthur Smith was let go by Atlanta following three straight 7–10 campaigns. The Falcons missed the playoffs in 2023 despite fielding a top-12 defence and using several top-10 picks to bolster the offence. It made Blank, 81, decide to forego another head coach and make a determined effort to hire one of the best contenders for an NFL coaching position this winter.

Atlanta appears to be giving experience priority amidst one of the richest pools of head coach prospects in NFL history. Belichick, Raheem Morris of the Los Angeles Rams, the defensive coordinator, and a few other potential candidates were brought in for interviews. Still, there seem to be two names at the top of the list.
NFL source Charles Robinson offered insight into the Falcons’ coaching search on the Yahoo Sports podcast Inside Coverage, stating that he thinks Jim Harbaugh will be hired in the event that Atlanta is unable to get Belichick.
