Some of the best players in the country have no trouble choosing to play for the Alabama Crimson Tide. Most people agree that Nick Saban is the greatest college football coach of all time because he won six national titles.
For the first time in a long time, Tuscaloosa is experiencing uncertainty in the wake of Saban’s abrupt retirement. Also, a huge influx of elite talent has been arriving through the transfer window since Kalen DeBoer was announced as the team’s new head coach.
Conversely, DeBoer has been successful in luring some of Washington’s talent to the Alabama Crimson Tide Team.
Former Huskies quarterback Austin Mack, a young quarterback with a ton of potential, stated earlier this week that he would be visiting Tuscaloosa.
Mack quickly decided to accompany DeBoer to Tuscaloosa. Although the former Washington quarterback is still developing, his stats are excellent. With his 6-foot-6 height and 230 pounds, this young guy might be something remarkable in a few years. He will require a great deal of instruction at just 17 years old, and it seems he enjoys being around DeBoer. In the future, he will also have the opportunity to start for one of the top collegiate football teams.
The Crimson Tide won’t benefit from this in 2024. Mack is too inexperienced to be a backup, and Jalen Milroe is the starter. DeBoer hopes to develop him into the next quarterback because he recognizes his potential.
Julian Sayin, the quarterback for Alabama, recently enrolled and intends to use the transfer portal.
This morning, Pete Thamel of ESPN released a story on that development.
Sayin was a Five-Star Plus+ prospect while playing football for Carlsbad High School in Carlsbad, California. In the 2024 cycle, he ranked as the fifth best recruit overall. The On3 Industry Ranking, a weighted average that takes into account all four of the major recruiting media businesses, supports this claim. He emerged as the class’s best quarterback and the best player overall from California.
On December 20, Julian Sayin signed a contract with the Alabama Crimson Tide and started taking part in bowl preparations. He was the star of the Crimson Tide’s future recruiting class, which On3’s 2024 Industry Team Rankings placed second overall. Along with CB Jaylen Mbakwe, he was the group’s best prospect and one of two five-star players.
Alabama has only added four portals thus far. That’s the only one since it was announced that Nick Saban was retiring. QB Austin Mack made that committment on Thursday, following his time playing for Kalen DeBoer at Washington.
Jalen Milroe will remain in the quarterback room for the Alabama Tide in the upcoming campaign. Sayin’s passing, though, has made the future a little less certain. This is particularly true now that Eli Holstein has also transferred. However, they still have Mack and Dylan Lonergan to work with in the future in addition to Ty Simpson.
The Crimson Tide’s most recent transfer loss following the Tuscaloosa coaching change is Julian Sayin. With this information about Sayin, their total number of portal accesses this cycle—on top of their extra 30-day window—is getting closer to thirty. Top players like OT Kadyn Proctor and S Caleb Downs have already left the team, among many others. Given that Sayin has joined CB Jameer Grimsley among signees who have reached the portal, it now looks like they are also losing their prospects for the upcoming class.
The Alabama Crimson Tide are entering a new and unparalleled era, and only time will tell if DeBoer can maintain the program’s elite status in college football.
