GOOD NEWS: An already loaded defensive line for the Louisville football program is bringing back another talented piece for year two under head coach Jeff Brohm.

LOUISVILLE, KY: Under head coach Jeff Brohm, a talented addition to the Louisville football program’s already strong defensive line will be made for the program’s second season. Jermayne Lole, a defensive tackle, will rejoin the Cardinals in 2024, a program representative confirms to Louisville Report. Although the agent was unable to verify if Lole received a medical redshirt, it was necessary for him to return for his last year of college. The 6-foot-3, 310-pound lineman finally managed to remain healthy for the full season last year, which allowed him to occasionally show off the qualities that had made him such a highly sought-after NFL prospect while still at Arizona State.

Lole finished with 19 total tackles, five for loss, 1.5 sacks, one forced fumble, and two pass breakups while playing in 12 of Louisville’s 14 games and starting nine of them. The Long Beach, California native transferred from Arizona State to Louisville before the 2022 season, but against Syracuse, he had an elbow injury that ended his career. He also missed the full season in 2021, his last year with the Sun Devils, because of a triceps injury sustained during fall camp. Lole was an X-factor for ASU and among the top interior defensive linemen in college football when he was healthy, though. During his first three seasons at Arizona State, he made 28 appearances and finished with 123 tackles, 20.0 for loss, 11.0 sacks, 8 pass deflections, and 2 forced fumbles. The icing on the cake for Louisville’s defensive line, which is developing into a very talented unit, is the return of Lole.

Important players like Mason Reiger, Dezmond Tell, Ramon Puryear, and Jared Dawson are also back for the Cardinals.

The Cardinals concluded their first season under head coach Jeff Brohm with a three-game losing skid, but they completed 2023 with an overall record of 10-4 (7-1 in ACC), including a trip to the program’s first-ever ACC Championship Game.
