Tony Rizzo has never held back when expressing his opinions to the Cleveland Browns and their supporters.
However, on Monday, he asked Aaron Goldhammer, his radio sidekick, to share his thoughts on what he would like to hear from Andrew Berry.
Regarding the Browns quarterback predicament for the 2024 season, Rizzo and Goldhammer both expressed concern to the ESPN Cleveland audience.
Cleveland should not rely on Dorian Thompson-Robinson to support Deshaun Watson, according to both radio hosts.
Joe Flacco’s recent statement on the podcast that he would like to rejoin the team was the catalyst for Goldhammer’s request.
The host of the morning show has doubts about DTR’s capacity to initiate a run of games.
Watson’s inability to play for an entire season, according to Rizzo, highlights the need for a strong backup.
It doesn’t matter because in the four seasons prior to this one, Watson hadn’t missed a single game for which he was eligible.
Rizzo is concerned about Watson’s careless running style and the amount of hits he takes.
However, Rizzo also seemed content with Watson and DTR leading the team next season.
Although Rizzo has been open to any veteran filling in as the team’s QB2, Goldhammer is set on Flacco.
Last season, Cleveland had four different quarterbacks—DTR, Flacco, P.J. Walker—win games.
Flacco and Walker will be available for free agency in 2024, leaving just DTR and Watson under contract.
On March 13, free agency will begin, and on March 11, negotiations will be open.
