Deshaun Watson of the Browns and Jalen Hurts of the Philadelphia Eagles are just two of the NFL quarterbacks that Avery has had the opportunity to train.
Because of this, he is aware of what other quarterback coaches should look for, and he thinks Johnson has what it takes to succeed at the highest levels.
It is difficult to argue with Avery’s assertion if his work with Texans wide receiver C.J. Stroud is any guide to his entire coaching potential.
However, Johnson’s role as the quarterbacks coach is the most significant one he has had as a coach, and he has only had it for a single year.
The fact that not everyone is in favour of employing Johnson is not surprising given his lack of experience.
