It appears that the Cleveland Browns are about to bolster their coaching staff with a little Crimson Tide. According to Zac Jackson of the Athletic, the team is currently seeking to appoint Tommy Rees as tight ends coach. Rees will play a part in the passing game’s overall development.
Reese was the offensive coordinator for Alabama football during the previous season. He will soon be joining Kevin Stefanski, who took over for the late great Nick Saban. Alabama, who had advanced to the college football playoffs earlier this month, lost to Michigan football in overtime at the Rose Bowl.
Reese now has Jordan Akins, Harrison Bryant, and David Njoku to work with at tight end after his anticipated transfer to the Browns. The Browns are led in that regard by Njoku in particular. Njoku was a key member of the Browns’ team this past season, finishing with 975 receiving yards (882 in the regular season and 93 in the playoffs) and six touchdowns.
The Browns have suffered numerous injuries this season, including ones that ended the careers of running back Nick Chubb and quarterback Deshaun Watson. Nevertheless, they overcame hardship and secured a postseason ticket under Joe Flacco’s leadership.
Sadly, the Houston Texans’ game in the Wild Card Round proved to be too much for their campaign. With a fully healthy roster, Kevin Stefanski undoubtedly wants to strive for a deeper playoff run the next year.
