JUST IN: An insider reveals Alabama offensive coordinator may be taking his talents to the NFL as he gives a quick notice

Observations
Tommy Rees, the former offensive coordinator for Alabama, might be heading to the NFL.

Rees is reportedly nearing a deal to join Kevin Stefanski’s staff with the Cleveland Browns in an offensive capacity, per a report from Zac Jackson of The Athletic.
The Crimson Tide faced plenty of problems during Rees’ one season as offensive coordinator, especially in the early going of the season. After failing to select a starting quarterback for the first three games of the season, the team went with Jalen Milroe, who remained a work in progress for the majority of the middle portion of the season.

Alabama’s offensive performance was inconsistent, and during conference play, the team would frequently trail at the half.

However, a commitment to varying the run game, making use of Milroe’s mobility and deep ball connection, and Rees’ offence at the conclusion of the season allowed the Crimson Tide to salvage a respectable result that ultimately helped them win the SEC.

Rees’s midseason efforts garnered him a nomination as a semifinalist for the Broyles Award, which is presented to the best college football assistant.

However, Ryan Grubb, the offensive coordinator for Washington, is anticipated to follow new head coach Kalen DeBoer to Tuscaloosa, replacing Nick Saban, which means Rees will probably join the NFL.
