It would be an understatement to say that the offence of the Auburn Tigers in 2023 was erratic.
Hugh Freeze needed assistance with the offence, so Auburn moved ahead and signed Derrick Nix from Ole Miss. This season, Auburn football is anticipating a stronger offence.
A few highlights from the previous season remain. In terms of contested catches, tight end Rivaldo Fairweather led all power five tight ends. According to PFF, Fairweather has 11 contested catches in 2023.
“I feel like I left a lot of food on the table here, unfinished business,” Fairweather told local reporters when he revealed he would be playing another season at Auburn earlier in the offseason. Here, there is unresolved business. We will be far better than we were the previous year, and I have no doubt that Coach Freeze has a fantastic strategy for us here.
In 2024, Fairweather set records at Auburn in both catches (38) and receiving yards (394). Fairweather and the other pass catchers in Auburn’s youthful and skilled wide receiver group should see more targets

Fairweather’s eleven contested catches from the previous season were especially important because Auburn’s pass receivers struggled to regularly create space in 2023. Two of those came on Auburn’s game-winning drive to help the team win its first away game of the season against the Cal Golden Bears.
This season, Fairweather will have a complete offseason with quarterback Payton Thorne, a strong offensive line next to him, and additional wide receiver skill surrounding him. He plans to develop and run a successful campaign in 2024.
