NFL NEWS: Houston Texans’ quarterback has won the first major award of his career.

Houston: In the 2023 NFL Draft, C.J. Stroud was selected by the Houston Texans with the second overall choice; nobody knew what to anticipate from the former Ohio State prospect.

The Detroit Lions’ Jahmyr Gibbs, Sam LaPorta, Puka Nacua, and Atlanta Falcons’ Bijan Robinson are the other finalists with Stroud.

Following Stroud’s first-ever postseason lead by the Texans since 2019, news was made. Houston’s miserable postseason run came to an end on Saturday as they were defeated 34-10 by the Baltimore Ravens. He completed the game 16 of 21 for 274 yards and three touchdowns in the victory. He set a league record by being the youngest quarterback to win a playoff game.
There were “so many highlights throughout the year,” according to Stroud. “There are so many tight, thrilling games. That one that really stands out, in my opinion, is the Tampa Bay game. One that truly stands out to me is that we were able to go back and observe the plays we made to win that game. There are numerous instances.

That was a very unique experience there, and one that I will always remember. It was also crucial for our team and the location at the time.”

After completing 63.9 percent of his passes, Stroud concluded the regular season with 4,108 yards, 23 touchdowns, and five interceptions—the third-most passing yards for a rookie quarterback.
