The Texas Longhorns lost defensive line coach Bo Davis earlier this month, in one of the team’s most significant offseason setbacks.
According to 247Sports, the Horns have identified Davis’ replacement in Kenny Baker, assistant defensive line coach for the Miami Dolphins.
Baker, regarded by 247Sports as ‘one of the nation’s best up-and-coming defensive line coaches,’ recently completed his first season in the NFL with the Dolphins.
This season, the Dolphins were among the best in the NFL at getting after the quarterback, finishing third in the league with 56 sacks, trailing only Kansas City (57) and Baltimore (60).
The Dolphins were also one of the top teams in the NFL against the run, ranking ninth and allowing only 97.1 yards per game.
Before entering the NFL, Baker spent three seasons at Western Kentucky, where he helped the Hilltoppers win three consecutive bowl games and helped develop defensive end DeAngelo Malone into the Conference USA Player of the Year and an NFL Draft pick in 2021-22.
