GOOD NEWS: Ohio edge prospect flip commitment to Louisville

Louisville football will host a number of high school recruits for a Junior Day visit on Saturday. Cal Thrush, an Upper Arlington edger from Columbus (Ohio), will be among the group.

A 6-foot-4, 230-pound three-star recruit intends to use the visit to learn more about the University of Louisville’s defensive structure and needs, as well as to strengthen a developing relationship with the coaching staff.

St. Xavier wide receiver Marlon Harbin discusses his visit to Louisville.

Marlon Harbin, a wide receiver at Louisville St. Xavier High School, received a scholarship offer from the University of Louisville last summer after performing well at one of the Cardinals’ premier camps. He has returned to campus multiple times, notably to watch the Cardinals beat Notre Dame.

The Class of 2026 candidate returned to college this week.

On Tuesday, Harbin, who stands 5 feet 11 and weighs 175 pounds, attended the University of Louisville’s Junior Day and spent time with the coaches. He was one of around a dozen prospects on campus for the occasion, which included a men’s basketball game between the University of Louisville and Duke.

Harbon was impressed with Jeff Brohm and his colleagues.

“It went great,” Harbin informed Cardinal Authority. “Just being there and talking to the excellent coaching staff. They were just telling me that it’s a terrific place to be and that big things are on the horizon.”

One of the state’s premier schools, St. X rarely has many freshmen play on varsity, let alone contribute straight away. However, Harbin made an early impact as a freshman in 2020, catching five passes in the first two games, including three catches for 64 yards and a touchdown against Louisville Central.

Harbin caught 24 passes for 360 yards and three scores in 12 games for the Tigers that season.

Harbin accepted an offer from UT-Martin throughout the offseason before adding Louisville and Kentucky.

Harbin caught 60 catches as a sophomore, totaling 703 yards and six touchdowns. He also recorded 10 tackles, two interceptions, one touchdown return, and a kickoff return.

247Sports has not yet rated Harbin.
