On Thursday night, the Golden State Warriors were defeated by the Sacramento Kings, 134-133. The NBA has provided their Last Two Minute Report for this match, which explains the highly contentious call that was made in the closing seconds of the game. With 27 seconds left, Steph Curry was out of bounds when the rebound fell into his hands after Kings guard Kevin Huerter missed a three-pointer. The Kings were given possession, although this decision was highly debatable because Curry had been struck in the head by Domantas Sabonis before going out of bounds.
Following an examination of the play, the NBA determined that Sabonis’s no-call was accurate, noting that Sabonis “follows through after attempting to reach the loose ball and contact occurs with Curry’s (GSW) head/face.” When an opponent makes a natural basketball move and makes contact with their head or face, it might be considered minor as long as the touch is not excessive or uncontrollable. In addition, the NBA determined that Kings guard Keegan Murray’s contact with Andrew Wiggins’ head and face area on this play was marginal.
Murray raised both arms in an attempt to grab the rebound, and he made clean contact with the ball before Wiggins (GSW) was subjected to marginal contact. When an opponent makes a natural basketball move and makes contact with their head or face, it might be considered minor as long as the touch is not excessive or uncontrollable. The NBA claims that although this play was contentious, the call was made appropriately.
