ESPN NEWS: Texans QB C.J. Stroud sends a two words Message to Steeler ahead of interview CJ Stroud head coach for OC job

The Pittsburgh Steelers are searching for a fresh offensive coordinator. After Matt Canada’s “disaster-class” stint, the squad is in desperate need of an offensive makeover. They most definitely have enough weapons for a respectable offence. All they need to do is use the appropriate mechanism to appropriately utilize them.

In light of this, the Steelers are hiring a coach who turned a motley crew of skill players and a rookie quarterback into a premier offence. According to Tom Pelissero, Pittsburgh is interviewing Jerrod Johnson, the coach of the Houston Texans quarterbacks, for the position of offensive coordinator. The team should consider going that interesting approach.

“A source says the #Steelers are interviewing Jerrod Johnson, the QB coach for the #Texans, today to fill the position of offensive coordinator.”

Johnson was a member of the coaching staff of the Texans that elevated Houston from a predicted bottom-feeder to a contender in the Divisional Round. Even though DeMeco Ryans is a defensive coach, the offensive coordinator will likely receive the majority of the focus, but the quarterback’s coach frequently plays a significant role in creating the offence as well. In theory, Johnson could help Kenny Pickett with the Steelers by bringing some of his Houston-based concepts to the team.
Kenny Pickett’s NFL career has been a very up-and-down one. The quarterback for the Steelers occasionally seems like the team’s future starter. It is quite amazing how well he can lead drives that win games. But for every drive that won a game, Pickett has also had some similarly awful performances in other contests. Some may blame Pickett’s inconsistent play on the offense’s lack of cohesion. That’s why assessing Pickett is such a difficult task.

C.J. Stroud's Texans preseason debut: 3 takeaways

All the Steelers can hope for is a better season than the one they had the previous year. The club had a difficult season the previous year since they were unable to muster any kind of consistency. They broke their long-standing custom of not dismissing a coach in the middle of the season because it was that horrible. Will this team ever find the right coach to help them reach their full potential? Or will they falter once more, resulting in a season that is only average?
