JUST IN: Indiana Pacers two-time All-Star Named a 2024 NBA All-Star starter, will represent Indiana Pacers in Indianapolis

Two times, Tyrese Haliburton was an NBA All-Star.

The Indiana Pacers guard is included in the Eastern Conference group of players that the NBA announced on Thursday for the 2024 All-Star game. He is more than worthy of the honour; he has been fantastic for the blue and gold this season.

“I believe that he was winning the [fan] voting for every guard this year, which was a really wonderful thing. And simply the respect he’s earned in the brief time he’s been here,” centre Myles Turner said of Haliburton’s bid for an All-Star selection. “He’s representing not only just us (the Pacers) but the city… it’s pretty dope just to be able to see him just continue to be that [dominating] guard he’s been able to turn himself into.”

It is quite an accomplishment for a 23-year-old to be an All-Star for the second consecutive season for Haliburton. He played in both the Rising Stars game and the Clutch Shooting Challenge two years ago, representing the Pacers both times.

Haliburton is leading the league in assists (12.6) and scoring 23.6 points per game this season. In addition to his incredible passing ability, he is currently scoring absurd amounts of points with great efficiency.

In addition to becoming a starter, Haliburton will get to play for the Pacers in Indianapolis. Turner’s comment about Haliburton standing in for the city is all the more endearing for it. In the All-Star Game held in Salt Lake City the previous year, Haliburton finished with 18 points and three assists.

“Getting selected as a starter is significant. Rick Carlisle, the head coach of the Pacers, stated on Thursday, “It just puts you in another class, another category.” It is a great honour. Additionally, I believe that the fact that there are now three distinct voting groups—fans, media, and players—makes it even more significant.”

From the beginning to the end, Haliburton topped the fan voting among guards in the Eastern Conference, giving him a significant edge over other players in the process of being selected as an All-Star starter. NBA players and a media panel each receive 25% of the vote, while fans cast 50% of the votes to select the starting lineup for the All-Star game.

This season, the guard—now a two-time All-Star—has shown himself to be a reliable player. In December, he was nominated for the East’s Player of the Month award and once took home the Player of the Week title. The Pacers gained national attention because to his performance in the NBA In-Season Tournament, when he was selected for the All-Tournament squad.

This season, the Pacers are 4-6 when Haliburton does not play, and 20-14 when he does. With Haliburton on the floor as opposed to off, Indiana’s net rating is almost 10 points higher per 100 possessions, demonstrating how important he is to their success.

Head coach of the Philadelphia 76ers Nick Nurse remarked earlier today, “He’s been absolutely incredible with just everything.” “Leadership, command of the games. The excitement, the passing, the deep threes, and the scoring. He has truly been amazing.”

Haliburton tied the Pacers team mark for assists in a game this season and became just the third player in NBA history to record consecutive games with 20+ points and 20+ assists. His influence is at all-time highs. He deserves to start as an All-Star.

As one of the NBA’s top guards at the moment, Haliburton is deserving of this position. The standout guard for the Pacers will participate in the All-standout game, which is scheduled for February 18.
