Another player from the 2025 high school class that could make a difference has been recruited by Ohio State football. Carter Lowe, a four-star offensive tackle, announced his commitment to the Buckeyes on Saturday via a YouTube live webcast presented by 247 Sports.
Among the top five, which included Michigan, Alabama, Georgia, and Tennessee—powerhouses in college football—was Ohio State, according to Lowe. Lowe, a junior at Toledo’s Whitmer High School, is 290 pounds, 6’5,” and rated as the No. 31 overall recruit in his class by 247 Sports.
Lowe’s decision to commit to Ohio State was mostly influenced by his desire to remain nearby.
Definitely a huge deal for me. My grandparents are present with me now. My grandpa turned 81 today, so they’re getting older. He exclaimed, “Happy birthday, grandpa!” “Being able to stay in-state and let them watch me play is important to me because I know they won’t live forever. I’m glad I came to this conclusion.
For Lowe, the Buckeyes were more than just their closeness to Toledo. The bonds he formed with offensive line coach Justine Frye and head coach Ryan Day during their intensive pursuit of him also had significant weight.
“I have relationships with the coaches, for sure. Regarding additional reasons for his comfort level at Ohio State, Lowe stated, “They never stopped on me since the day they offered.” “I get along pretty well with Coach Frye, and then Coach Day. Coach Day and I were the most locked in head coaches out of all the coaches I spoke with. Thus, I am quite grateful for that from them.
Along with linebacker Eli Lee and quarterback Tavien St. Clair, Lowe is the third Ohioan and eighth pledge from the high school class of 2025 to the Buckeyes.
