ESPN NEWS: Done Deal;Browns has signed a blockbuster deal with Former Quarterback as New Offensive Coordinator

A former quarterback is returning to the Cleveland Browns, this time as the offensive coordinator.
Following Alex Van Pelt’s departure due to the Cleveland Browns’ early offseason staff shuffle, head coach Kevin Stefanski was left looking for a new offensive coordinator.

After inviting several applicants for the position to interview, Stefanski seems to have found his match.
Ken Dorsey will be the Browns’ new offensive coordinator, according to Ian Rapoport of the NFL Network. If the Dawg Pound is familiar with this name, it’s probably because Dorsey played quarterback for the Cleveland Browns for two seasons in the past (2006–2008).

Dorsey has advanced in the coaching ranks since the end of his playing career. His work with the Carolina Panthers helped him gain recognition, and in 2019, he was hired to join the coaching staff of the Buffalo Bills. In 2022, after Brian Daboll left to join the New York Giants, Dorsey was elevated to offensive coordinator.

In Dorsey’s first season as head coach, Buffalo’s offence continued to roll, finishing second in both total yards and points scored.

But despite their extraordinary skill, the Bills had a difficult season, which led to Dorsey’s dismissal in November.

With his recent ups and downs, some may be concerned about Dorsey’s sudden transfer to Cleveland. But Stefanski remains the undisputed leader, so it’s not like the Browns’ team will succeed only because of Dorsey.

In fact, a major factor in Dorsey’s selection over other contenders who would have like to manage the offence themselves is probably the possibility of letting Stefanski continue to call plays. The Browns intend to start Deshaun Watson for the first time in 2024, but Dorsey’s experience working with top quarterback Josh Allen could be advantageous as well.
