CJ Stroud is one of the Houston Texans’ bright spots this season. His first NFL season saw him lead a Texans club with little to no expectations to a divisional-round loss to the Baltimore Ravens.
However, the Ohio State graduate is more than just a brilliant football player on the field; according to his most recent interaction with a veteran, he is also a nice person.
Houston Texans’ CJ Stroud sends a Purple Heart veteran to Super Bowl LVIII.
According to ABC13’s Adam Winkler, Stroud will send Sgt. Craig Mazeska and his son to Las Vegas for Super Bowl LVII as part of a Salute to Service ticket giveaway. He’ll also be spending time with the two of them, both for Super Bowl-related events and just hanging out.
“Beyond football, my family is one of the most influential parts of my life,” Stroud said in an ABC13 statement. “I am especially grateful for the lessons learned from my loved ones who have served in the military.” Sgt. Craig Mazeska, a Marine Corps veteran, has valiantly served our country, and I’m honoured to join USAA and the Air & Space Forces Association (AFA) in sending him and his son to the Super Bowl in Las Vegas, where I hope to meet them.
After his inaugural season, Stroud is the clear front-runner for Offensive Rookie of the Year. Through 15 games, he completed 64% of his throws for 4,108 yards and 23 touchdowns. He also topped the league in yards gained per game, with 273.9.
