The Las Vegas Raiders have hired Kliff Kingsbury as their offensive coordinator. The former Arizona Cardinals head coach spent the previous year as a senior offensive analyst at USC and is ready to return to the NFL.
Notably, Kingsbury tutored quarterback Caleb Williams, who is projected to be the first choice in the 2024 NFL Draft. The Chicago Bears have the first pick and appear to be split between selecting Williams and trading down for a number of draft picks.
Kingsbury and Williams have a relationship as a result of his time at USC, which has fueled conjecture that the quarterback may want to play in Las Vegas rather than Chicago. While that isn’t necessarily his decision, many fans and observers, like The Athletic’s Ted Nguyen, believe the Raiders are considering a trade for the first overall pick.
If it becomes clear that the Bears are prepared to deal the No. 1 pick, there will be a fierce bidding war. Insider Says Caleb Williams Doesn’t Want to Play in Chicago.
According to Fox Sports’ Colin Cowherd, the concept of Caleb Williams refusing to play for the Bears is not entirely outlandish.
“I do think it’s possible that Washington trades up and Chicago allows Washington to trade up,” Cowherd remarked on the February 1 episode of “The Herd.” “Because Caleb and his crew do not want to travel to Chicago. He is from the Washington, DC region. I believe Dan Quinn is being considered. Caleb Williams’ main concern, and you must confess it, is where you land. “Chicago has never produced a superstar quarterback.”
In this situation, it appears that Williams will be more likely to play for his hometown Washington Commanders, although this is not certain. Cowherd was the first to disclose that Kliff Kingsbury was the front-runner for the Raiders’ offensive coordinator position, so he certainly has contacts at USC.

“I like to be around younger coaches,” Williams stated in a February 2023 interview with People’s Lanae Brody. “I would definitely go for the Dolphins. I would also be able to play alongside Tyreek Hill, Jaylen Waddle, and Mike Gesicki. The defence is not poor. That’s probably my number one spot.”
